Jin Zhai

PhD Student

After earning a B.S. in Bioengineering from Miami University and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Jin joined Dr. Yupeng Chen’s lab at the University of Connecticut as a PhD student in 2022. Her research focuses on the development of Janus base nanoparticles (JBNps) for nucleic acid delivery, with applications in challenging conditions such as osteoarthritis and solid tumors. Jin’s work integrates nanoparticle engineering, mRNA stabilization, and both in vitro and in vivo therapeutic evaluation, including investigations into space-enhanced self-assembly of nanomedicine. Outside the lab, she enjoys spending time with her cat Ava, exploring local food spots, reading, and staying connected with friends and family.
