Allison Surian

Biomedical Engineering


Allison Surian is a second-year Master’s student studying Biomedical Engineering. She completed her undergraduate degree at Roger Williams University, majoring in Biology and Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. Allison conducted research at the Aquatic Diagnostics Lab at Roger Williams throughout her undergraduate career studying shellfish along the New England Coast. She completed her thesis at this lab, focusing on the development of molecular assays for the detection of diseases in the Eastern Oyster.

Allison was a member and two-year captain of the Roger Williams Swim and Dive Team. Her hobbies
include swimming, running, and being outside!

Her current research project under Dr. Chen is RNA delivery to cartilage, cancerous tumours, and the blood-brain-barrier to combat disease.
